Who can benefit from speech therapy?
A comprehensive speech and language evaluation may be useful for children who are communicating without words (i.e., "late talkers,") children who communicate with fewer words than expected for their age, children who do not speak clearly, or children who have trouble following directions. Private speech can also be useful for older children with persistent speech sound errors, academic difficulties, or problems with social skills.
Missy can provide standardized testing to support the need for services in an IEP. These standardized scores can also provide a comparison to same aged peers. Missy is a level II PROMPT trained therapist with experience in outpatient pediatric speech pathology across the life span. Missy has also worked with Tobii Dynavox and PRC-Saltillo to provide insurance funded speech generating devices via iPad access or eye-gaze interaction for children who require extra support with communication!
